MEFCU hosted representatives from twelve Kenyan credit unions.

Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union hosted a group of thirty-one people from Kenya. This group represented twelve credit unions, otherwise known as Savings and Credit Cooperatives. The representatives gathered information, learned more about strategic planning and volunteer board operations.

Our guests were very interested in learning about us because we are a single sponsor credit union. Our members include employees, retirees from Mayo Clinic, and their families are eligible to join. It is rare to find a single sponsor credit union operating today.

Part of their time spent with us included a tour of Mayo Clinic. Highlighted on their tour was the Gonda Building as well as the Plummer Building. Kristie Jacobson, MEFCU Board Chair, and the MEFCU Executive Team also had the opportunity to present to the group. CEO, Mary Hansen said, “It was our pleasure to host such a warm and talented group of Kenyan credit union officials. Although many miles separate us, the mission of service and stewardship to credit union members is very much shared.”
