MEFCU is proud to announce a donation of $20,000 to Salt & Light Partners, a Rochester community non-profit, through the FHLB Member Impact Fund.
Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union (MEFCU) is excited to be giving back to the community through the Member Impact Fund offered by Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines). This grant is part of $20 million in funding awarded by FHLB Des Moines through a matching grant program.
MEFCU CEO Mary Hansen presented the $20,000 check to Salt & Light Partners on Wednesday, June 18th at the Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union’s Business Center.
The mission of Salt & Light Partners is to provide emotional and spiritual support to first responders through chaplaincy in the community. The organization is relationship-focused, seeking to reduce feelings of stress and provide spiritual support for first responders.
Christine Beech, Board Chair and Development Director of Salt & Light Partners, expressed immense gratitude for the grant: “We are incredibly thankful for these funds which will allow us to expand our support to first responders and their families… With this funding we will build out our family-focused programming for the Rochester Police Department, Rochester Fire Department, and the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office… We've learned that when our first responders are supported, they are better equipped to support our community.”
Mary Hansen added, “It is an incredible honor to partner with the FHLB to recognize the impactful work being done in our community by Salt and Light Partners! We have tremendous respect and appreciation for the first responders in our community and work closely with them. We value the compassion and support they bring to those caring for individuals and families going through crisis. Our heartfelt thanks to our first responders and to those serving them through Salt and Light Partners. What they do each day is such difficult but life-changing work.”
