For our 4th annual Caring It Forward Day, we offered secure shredding on October 8th and collected items for the community throughout October.

Staff at Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union provided paper shredding services for members as part of Caring It Forward Day, a Minnesota state-wide credit union community service day. Additionally, we organized a community collection of donated games and baby supplies for the month of October.

In support of the many members we serve, we provided free, secure document shredding at our 41st Street and Cascade Lake locations on October 8. Between the two sites, 4,475 pounds of paper was recycled and shredded, the equivalent of approximately 6 cubic yards of landfill space and 34 trees!

MEFCU’s donation collection supported both the Mayo Clinic Children’s Center and Gage East Housing. Members brought in new, packaged games for the children staying at the children’s center and baby supplies for the homeless or at-risk youth and families residing at Gage East.

Donated items included 23 board games, 38 card games, 7 coloring books and notebooks. Baby supplies donated included 16 packages of wipes and 31 packages of diapers. That’s 2,496 diapers going to families in need!

When asked about Caring It Forward Day, Mary Hansen, CEO at MEFCU states, “I am very proud of and thankful for the compassion and generosity our staff and members show each year for those in need in our community. It was our pleasure to partner with the Mayo Clinic Children’s Center who do amazing work as my family personally experienced in past years. I have tremendous respect for Gage East Housing also as they assist families in transition with such important and vital services.”

Caring It Forward 2018 is a continuing initiative to give back to MEFCU members, the community, and Mayo Clinic. Thank you to all who participated in this year’s event!
