For the 12th year in a row, Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union gave back to the Rochester community.
October 12 marked another successful Caring It Forward Day at MEFCU — a special tradition where we come together to support the health, security, and well-being of the Rochester community.
Throughout the day, community members visited our Business Center to take advantage of several free services focused on health, wellness, and protection.
In partnership with Hy-Vee's Healthy You Mobile Unit, we provided free flu shots to help individuals and families stay healthy heading into flu season. We also offered free document shredding to promote identity protection and financial security, giving community members a safe way to dispose of sensitive documents.
New this year, we were proud to partner with the Mayo Clinic Bloodmobile to host a community blood drive, helping support local patients and the ongoing need for lifesaving blood donations.
Thanks to the incredible support of our members and the Rochester community, we welcomed 114 flu shot recipients. We also collected 11,920 pounds of paper for secure shredding and recycling, surpassing last year's total by nearly 1,850 pounds. That's nearly 6 tons of paper diverted from the waste stream, the equivalent of saving approximately 100 trees. Through our partnership with the Mayo Clinic Bloodmobile, 21 donors registered and 14 units of blood were collected, enough to help save up to 42 lives.
Thank you to everyone who joined us to help make this day a success! Caring It Forward Day is all about strengthening our communities, and we're proud to be part of this statewide Minnesota initiative.
