Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union gives back to Rochester Community.
For the ninth year in a row, Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union (MEFCU) gave back to the Rochester community as a part of Caring It Forward Day on Monday, October 9. MEFCU offered secure document shredding, seasonal flu shots, a donation drive for Paws & Claws Humane Society, and financial presentations with national speakers in their Cascade Lake Business Center.
As a service to members, we provided free, secure document shredding throughout the day, collecting over 8,050 pounds, or more than four tons of paper to recycle and shred.
With the recent COVID-19 pandemic, getting a flu vaccination is more important than ever. Our community partner, the Hy-Vee Healthy You Mobile Unit, provided a free Flu Shot Clinic from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. In just three hours, 146 people received vaccinations.
We also held a donation drive the week of October 9th to support Paws & Claws Humane Society in Rochester. Members donated $525 in cash and 27 items to Support Paws & Claws Guardian Angel Fund.
Members were also invited to special presentations on the economy and financial markets by Gene Goldman (Chief Investment Officer) and Brian Klimke (Chief Market Strategist) of Cetera Financial Group. Gene is a regular contributor on financial news networks, including CNBC and Fox Business News. Brian publishes market commentary for financial advisors, investors and the media.
“Every year, I am impressed with the ways our staff and community come together to give back, and 2023 is no exception,” stated CEO Mary Hansen.
Caring It Forward Day is a statewide initiative in Minnesota where participating Credit Unions give back to the communities they serve.
