Fraudsters are getting more sophisticated, often posing as trusted organizations, including financial institutions. They’re always looking for their next victim, but you can use these tips to stay one step ahead.

  • Don’t provide personal or financial information to anyone
Many fraudsters send text messages or emails asking you to verify suspicious transactions, state your accounts are blocked, or push you to click a link and log in. These links often lead to fake websites designed to steal your credentials. They may even call you out of the blue.

Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union will never ask you to verify transactions or provide sensitive information through a link.

  • Review your accounts often
Monitor your accounts regularly with Online Banking and our Mobile App. If you see suspicious activity, contact us as soon as possible.

  • Be suspicious of all website links and phone numbers provided
In addition to fraudulent website links that try to harvest your information, many fraudsters also send fake phone numbers. If you call one of these numbers you could end up talking with someone who is trying to steal your information.

If you need to contact MEFCU, call us using the phone number listed on our website, a brochure, your statement, or on other trusted sources like our credit or debit cards. We can help you determine whether a message you have received is legitimate at (800) 535-2129.
  • Contact us if you've clicked a link or shared information
Anyone of us can fall for a scam. If you have clicked on a questionable link or shared information, please contact us right away to best protect your accounts at (800) 535-2129.
